There is not a bad spot in all of Lake Tahoe....south is a little more congested, but that makes for part of the fun...

Pope Beach is close to HWY 89 near the Richardson Camp Ground. It is a stunning beach with plenty of parking and restroom facilities, a good place to ride to or walk around. It is also close to the Camp Richardson General Store and Deli if you get hungry.

Pope Beach t is very long There is plenty of parking and facilities plus shade trees. Pope beach is only a few minutes from downtown South Lake Tahoe. The views are really pretty and the lake is shallow in this area.

There is an $8 fee to get in. We went on a Sunday at around 11am and there were still tons of parking available. Very nice beach with picnic tables. Flush toilets, thank goodness. Similar to other places nearby, wasps/yellow jackets are everywhere. Bug sprays don't work. I suggest mint as wasps hate them. Nice place to spend a lazy... More

We rented a kayak here and liked it very much. The people were nice and friendly. The beach was mostly clean with a family friendly feel. I liked the fact that we could see the bottom of the lake, or else I would probably never done it. The water was clean and it was mostly calm. I would go back... More

We love spending time at Pope Beach. It has a very long beach that runs along Lake Tahoe and a restaurant near camp Richardson.

The beach was gorgeous... This was the first time i visited this one. Its a crowded one. They had an entry fee for 8$ and pets are not allowed.it was a beautiful day and my son loved the waters. There was a small food truck selling coffee and basic snacks. But it wasnt available after 5.

Stopped by Pope Beach for a quick picnic. The sandy beach is beautiful but a little too popular. Lots of people everywhere swimming and having fun. Despite all the people we found a free picnic table pretty easily as most people are at this beach for swimming and sunning. Things were looking pretty good until the bees started to smell... More
