Arrived at this very picturesque village just as the celebrations were starting. Young ladies were dancing together, wearing their ethnic Miao dress, with very intricate silver headdresses and jewelry. These ladies performed many different dances, with short breaks in between. There were also performances by the elderly ladies (singing), elderly gentlemen (playing the flute) and the whole village in a... More

A very quaint and attractive village on a hillside near a small river. I loved wandering the narrow paths, admiring the houses, the colorful dress, and all of the corn hanging all over. Makes for some great pictures. They also have a very good cultural show in the afternoon, of course directly for the tourists but it is a great... More

We loved our visit to Langde. Beauti ful authenti c traditional Miao village. No tourist that day......so far and Apart from xijiang it has been the most interesting. If you wish to bring back some embroderie bracelet or clothe this is the place to buy for a good price. You will find their work along your trip in other places... More

I stayed in a Langde village house and the woman cooked three full meals a day-WOW-THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS and plentiful. The room was $3 and the dinner meal was also $3. She also shred her home brewed beer with us. I walked the mountain and rice paddies. I bought an embroidery from her. She gave me a hug and... More

The weather was not the best with a small drizzle but it gave it a certain spirit of mystery. Just 3 or 4 other tourists on that day. No shops, no restaurants. You eat in someone's home. People just go about their business in this small village. A few ladies are selling local handicrafts but that's it (and they are... More

I was really excited to come all the way down from Shanghai to the Miao area but I found out that chinese modernization will disappear what is left from most of the Miao villages. Nevertheless, Langde is a place which still maintains the old way of living of the Miao people. It is just a short drive from Kaili(20 km)... More

I had limited time so was only able to visit the Miao villages of Xijiang, Zhouxi, Shiqiao and Langde. I felt Langde was the best by far. The village is set in a forested valley and you can take pleasant short hikes outside rhe village in either direction. The village itself is lovely, much less developed and crowded than Xijiang... Langde is a small Miao minority village near Leishan, there is no entry fee. It is a working village with the inhabitants going about their daily chores and unlike other villages in China it does not feel at all like an ethnic minority themepark. There was minimal hassle to buy souvenirs (when we did it was all in good humor)... More
