We had James and he was a great guide. It was just our family (husband and 8 year old) that showed up for 2:15 tour on a Monday. We had a great time, learned a lot and James did a great job of including our...More

We went along for the Roman walk, but since there was just us there, we were given the option of three walks and our guide James very helpfully combined aspects of both the Roman and Snickelways walks. James was extremely knowledgable, and though we had...More

We had a great morning on the essential walk. James was very friendly and welcoming, there was only the two of us waiting at the gates for the tour to start and we weren't sure if it would go ahead, we were grateful it did!...More

Our guide Chris Kelly took us on the most interesting and informative guided walk we've ever done. He was full of local anecdotes and historic facts and took us to areas of the city we never of knew about. Excellent.

Especially in sunshine but also on overclouded days this is a great way of getting your bearings in York and reimagining the past. York is so steeped in history that any review here cannot do it justice. The walls themselves are well preserved and it's...More

We did the Essential Walk as we thought this would cover everything - which it did. Our guide said the walk would last approx. 2 hours, he went over and above and the walk lasted 2.5 hours. He was a great guide and very informative,...More

I heartily recommend this tour. We were lucky to find ourselves at the right place at the right time - 2.15pm on a Saturday outside the museum garden gates, when Chris was about to kick off his tour. It was a really informative, interesting and...More

My wife and I were lucky enough to get a guided tour from James today. He was so knowledgeable about York and history in general. He set the elements of Yorks history in context historically, talked enthusiastically and with great passion about the City where...More

We waited along with a dozen or so others for the morning tour. After about 20 minutes someone called the company, who informed the caller that the tour had been canceled. Doesn't get much worse than that! Frustrating as that was, the worst thing was...More

Extremely in-depth information on minor points. We found ourselves trying to get the guide to move on. Was hoping hoping for an overview of the city and it wasn't that. This time, we got what we paid for.
