Great views of Davenport of course but also of Auckland which is just across the water. Well worth the climb to the top. Besides you need the exercise anyway.

For the best view of Auckland harbor and skyline, go to the top of Mount Victoria Reserve. Well worth the climb. Look for the disappearing gun on top. This was one of the four 64 pounder muzzle loading guns which was put in place to...More

Well worth the climb to the top for the views and to see the hidden gun. I walked and was glad that I did as I appreciated the view all the more.

I took the Devonport Explorer and this was one of the stops. I enjoyed the info that the driver shared with us.

It was a short but steep walk/climb up the mountain taking the 'short cuts' through the bushes. Very rewarding with the amazing 360 degree views and cool breeze. Car park was busy with the limited parking space.

Maybe I missed something, but there was no clearly marked walking trail that we could find. Which left us walking up rough, steep dirt tracks. To avoid these walking back down, we walked on the narrow, winding road. Lovely views from the top though.

Hired a car for the day to drive to Devonport and Mount Victoria. You can drive up to the top of Mount Victoria for sweeping views of Devonport and Auckland high rise. Devonport village itself feels like a step back in time being one of...More
