This is a great short hike year around. Trail is well marked an for big so close to Canmore you are truly in the wild. It is also a short distance from the Nordic centre which was one of the venues for the 1988 Olympics and still a world class facility today. Be sure to check out their event calender.... More

Hiked this with the kids Family Day. Going up was manageable with good boots but coming down it was an ice rink. Definitely worth having ice cleats for this one right now. Unfortunately hardly anyone on the trail had them and we all took a few hard spills. "Difficult" route closed in winter but definitely worth the extra effort any... More

Have done this a few times with friends & our dogs, there's an easy route for all abilities & little more difficult (still easy). The colour of the lake is brilliant Greeny-blue ... Amazing. Don't miss this gem

The Grassi Lakes hike is a must if you are in the area. The lakes at the top are breath taking and there is an amazing view of the landscape as well. Anytime someone comes to visit we take them on this one. There is an easy trail and a more difficult trail. We mix it up depending who's with... More

Walked the Grassi Lakes Trail on a coudy day in Sept. 2016. Rewarded with lovely views on the way up, including waterfalls. Grassi Lakes is two lakes one above the other, the upper one surrounded on one side by caves. Definitely worth the visit

Done this hike numerous times with my small kids, easy hike, there is a difficult route however it is still quite easy. Great lake at the top and i would advise the more difficult route for the views of the waterfall

Easy walk up to the lake, not strenuous and surprisingly quiet. Took just over an hour to walk up and back. Can get slippery, but this time was fine. Harsh cold wind near the lake, which meant we didn't hang around for long. This is the log road route, the other route is not open in winter. A good place... More
