Relatively short, straight uphill hike on well-groomed trail.Ends at two very small lakes. It's an out-and-back hike but there are two well-marked alternatives: easy and harder. We took the easy. The highlight are the spectacular colors in the lakes. I'd recommend it for families. Other...More

A nice hike along a well graded road/track takes you up to the Lakes, which have the most incredible colours. Well worth the hike.

We did this hike fairly early in the morning when it was quiet. This is a short hike up to the lakes. Beautiful when you reach them and we'll worth the effort

Took the easier of the two routes to the lakes, which was still a decent uphill hike (though only about a mile or so). The lakes were very small, but very pretty. Well worth a visit, esp. if time is too short fro a longer...More

A gorgeous, not too strenuous Canadian hike. We went up through the forest on the service road, which is a slow but steady climb up. The lakes at the top were so beautiful - lots of colours and the water is amazingly clear. We then...More

Easy hike, a favorite in Canmore. As suggested, take the "difficult" side up and the easy side down. Follow the path up the stairs for great photo opportunities. This is a wonderful after-dinner hike in the summer.

An option of hiking up by the falls which is pretty steep in places or an easy version if needed. The falls are magnificent and the lake at the top is worth the hike. A nice rock climbing wall is at the top.

We completed this hike in about three hours (harder route up, easier route back down). We paused to take photos at various spots for over an hour (approx). Grassy lakes had been shut due to bear activity until a day or two before our visit,...More

This easy walk to Grassi lake is filled with pleasure! Once you arrive at the small but tranquil lake, take a moment to absorb the the beautiful colours. Fall is an ideal time to do this walk, and return to the town of Canmore for...More

Yes, as of Aug 22 it's still closed. The Alberta Parks "Know B4 U Go" page lists the current bear warnings and closures.

There were people wading in the upper lake (not sure of the name) as it is deeper but not really deep. Very cold mountain water though! 😊
