Amazing B.C. Historic Site
Dec 2019
Driving through this section of B.C spotted all the pull-out info and decided to check out the info displays. They explain the time this event happened and mention the people caught in the disaster. You can see the areas devastated by the slide. It makes you want to learn more about this event as well as the area. I recommend this site to all tourists and residents passing this area.Very important historical event and 6 kilometers east is the former Japanese internment camp called Tashme which has restored buildings and a museum. They have a website with opening dates and times. There is hiking maps at Sunshine Valley R.V.Site for the many trails in this area.Allow some time to visit these great spots!

Interesting site
Oct 2019 • Friends
We stopped at the site of a huge natural disaster, which happened in the 1960s. It’s just off the main route, with information board. Worth a stop

Good viewpoint
Aug 2019 • Couples
Viewpoint is well signed and easy to access. Scary to imagine what it would have been like to witness happening.
To my surprise, there is an electric vehicle charging station there at the viewpoint.

Mind boggling slide
Jul 2019 • Family
Stopped at this rest stop and couldn't imagine the devastation this slide did. Quick short hike is in order as well.

Natural disaster
Jul 2019 • Couples
Huge landslide from 1965 that wiped out the main highway and took 4 lives. Can't believe that some numbnuts have to leave graffiti on the rocks.

Nature at its Worse
Jun 2019 • Family
Seemed surreal driving through this part of BC’s interior highway imagining what this would have sounded like and what it would have looked like. In doing research, it’s a wonder , more were not killed or seriously injured.

The power that can move mountains!
Jun 2019 • Couples
We saw the sign for a rest stop and found the viewing spot quite by accident, a little piece of BC history that was new to us. Very interesting!

Always Remember!
Jun 2019 • Couples
Yes, I am amazed every time we see how nature can change the structure of the world. Still remember watch the reports on TV when it happened. Always remember this is a memorial site for the individuals who were lost in the slide.

Gotta plan ahead
Jun 2019 • Couples
Very interesting, but if you didn’t know in advance you would be making a fairly dangerous maneuver to suddenly pull off the highway
