I am a big fan of the Discovery Islands, especially Quadra Island. Travel back in time to the laidback 60's and a simpler, less complicated time. The Island is beautiful surrounded by the ocean, wonderful mountainviews, with plentiful marine and wildlife viewing opportunities. There is a quaint charm on Quadra that is second to none with its' delightful shops, dining... More

Every time we come back we feel at home immediately. This is an island for quite reflective thinking, out door activities - hiking, kayaking, fishing, swimming, berry picking and the list goes on. For a population of approximately 2800 people they have built a new library, support both a new and used book store. The residence are friendly and very... More

I took a kayak expedition around the discovery islands and was not disappointed. I saw tons of purple and pink ochre sea stars, some leather stars, anemones, urchins, nudibranches, sea squirts, crabs, seals, sea lions, eagles, white-sided dolphins and humpback whales. The islands are great to kayak around and have a few camping spots as well. I managed to brave... More

Camping boating or a hotel/B&B, Quadra is a must do. Lots of fun to be had. Visit the Herriot Bay Inn and dine on the deck. Walk Rebecca Spit Provincial Park or golf at the Quadra Golf Course. The farmers market on Saturday is lots of fun and great crafts and food. Great hiking and biking trails even a winery!... More

Hop on the ferry at Campbell River, cross the Discovery Passage, dock at Quathiaski Cove and fall in love with the Discovery Islands; Quadra, Cortes and the many smaller islands beyond. Go boating, kayaking, biking, hiking, fishing, whale and bear watching or just wander the beaches. There are great places to eat and fantastic accommodation available, just so much to... More

Lovely little area, lots of birdlife, great weather. I was travelling with 6 other gal pals, and thoroughly enjoyed the weekend on the island touring.

The Discovery Islands is a group of large and small islands also known as the Northern Gulf Islands. They are best accessed via Quadra or Cortes Islands because both are serviced by car ferry operated by BC Ferries. From there you can venture out on your own or hire a guide through one of the excellent, local kayak companies. As... More

Pristine waters, quiet bays, unique, vibrant communities, artists' retreats, accessible only by ferry or just private boat. These islands are not for everyone but for those seeking great hiking, kayaking, fishing, sailing, quiet retreats, brand new or historic resorts or local b'nbs, the Discovery Islands are worth discovering.

Liked the rustic décor. Service and pub food was excellent. Ferry to Cortez Island right there. Scenery was beautiful. The Inn has rooms, marina, suites, cabins, RV & tent campground.
