Lastours is a gem set in rugged and beautiful countryside. The climb up/down is reasonably challenging and not to be advised for anyone who is not fairly fit and able. Once up there the views are stunning with bird, insect and other wildlife in abundance,...More

It was a tough hike up to see these castles on top of the mountain but it was totally worth it! There are occasional benches along the way and the 6 year old that was with us made it up fine as well. The views...More

A truly stunning place and so atmospheric. Head to the furthest castle early in the day and work your way back to avoid the crowds.

The visitor centre is about to be updated which I think it needs. impressive views of the four castles from the viewing area but it looked like a long trek up the hills if you wanted to get closer. Not much in the Visitor centre.More

Despite being over 30 degrees and being less fit than I would like, the climb was certainly worth it. The valley is amazingly beautiful and the castles give an idea of an era long gone. There are places to rest in the shade of the...More

REVIEW.. By France A We climbed this hill to the 4 towers with my mother-in-law (ma belle-mere) who was 82 years old ! She was leading the 3 of us! It was a warm day in summer.. But there is a cool large room of a cave where you can si, rest & cool off.. We live locally & take all of our visitors here! It's fantastic! You must also enjoy the museum which exhibits the artifacts still being found on the site.. There you will also find related books on Cathar history ..very nice display.. Clean, beautiful.. Never disappointing! Stop here for a pic nic before wine tasting! You also have a bakery & 2 restaurants nearby in the village by the river.. Everyone loves this climb!
