We stayed at the end of March this year, it was a truly amazing experience. We loved it so much that we have booked again in June. Food delicious. Staff very helpful, Rooms are superb and clean, and decorated very tastefully. We felt like royalty in the four poster bed, and it was so comfortable. Would highly recommend. Played croquet... More

This was so disappointing. For the price we pay at top end hotels you don't expect shoddy waiters who make you feel like you are an inconvenience or ignore you, nor food that would be outclassed by a local pub £10 lunchtime deal offer. Some staff, particularly reception, were lovely but others out of Fawlty Towers. The gardens were unkept... More

Our room was immediately upgraded upon arrival. This room was beyond our imaginations. It was gorgeous bed set on tiled floor with an enormous fireplace. The bathroom was also incredible - huge with the largest shower I've ever seen in a hotel. It truly was what staying in a castle should feel like. The historical significance of this place is... A surprise birthday gift for my partner was well received but the management could do so much better. We had to wait ages at check-in and because we had not booked a slot for our dinner (despite it being part of the price), we could only eat really late in the evening. We were advised that afternoon tea could be... More

Overpriced, really up themselves. Went in, asked for cream tea price, snooty receptionist quoted over £30 EACH! When I said 'I only want a freak tea, not buy the castle' she snootily saud'well, if you ONLY want the cream tea, it's £15 each. We left and had a very nice cream tea locally for under a fiver each! When we... More

Fantastic historical location for a special occasion. Sumptuous rooms to make you feel like a princess. The right mixture of modern and original. The ground are well maintained and ideal for taking a stroll after a hearty breakfast.

We had been wanting to stay at Thornbury Castle for some time and our Silver Wedding anniversary was the perfect opportunity, and it didn't disappoint. It was full of character and the bedroom (Henry) that we stayed in was superb and the bed was extremely comfortable. The food was lovely and the only thing we would have altered would be... More

OMG amazing place to stay. We booked via secret escape and at £250 for one night in a deluxe bedchamber with 2 course evening meal and breakfast I had high expectations. I was not disappointed. We arrived slightly early but decided we could wander around the grounds. Lucky for us our room was already ready so we were able to... More

I loved this place! The history is remarkable and to think that King Henry was a visitor.! We loved the sumptuous accommodation. Gorgeous beds and rooms. The breakfast and teas are fabulous and to walk around the garden and enjoy the ambience is very appealing !

Over priced scruffy inside and out, Staff not particularly friendly and waitresses in grubby uniforms. Car park was in such a state on could not leave the car without Walking through huge puddles. We walked in the grounds where some areas looked like a rubbish tip. The bathroom was not cleaned properly and nowhere to put anything down except the... More
