Windmill Hill City Farm was formed in 1976 by a volunteer group of local residents determined to see a piece of inner city wasteland put to more productive use, giving the local community the opportunity to experience farming in the heart of the city. It offers educational, recreational and therapeutic facilities and activities for local people including a range of farmyard animals, community gardens, picnic area, café serving home-made food, an adventure playground, community building with meeting spaces, a five-a-side pitch, environmental and craft-based courses, and a nursery for children aged from nine months to five years old.

We love this place. The cafe is great serving lovely food and the kids love all the farm animals and the sand pit to play in. There are also loads of picnic tables and lots more going on.

The Children loved being able to be close to the animals. This is a well run establishment and the food provided was pretty good. Definitely worth a try for a value visit when entertaining small inquisitive children.

We stopped by here to enjoy the cafe and have a walk around looking at the animals. Our children love seeing the pigs and whilst they are charming the allotments are my favourite part of the site. Well worth exploring as it is so easy...More

Not been here in many, many years but it really is worth a visit. The hard work that has been put in to make it for all the family is amazing. Plenty for children of all ages to enjoy - animals, pond life, walks through...More

Great little visit here. The play area is a bonus! There's a few animals to see which is great in the city centre! Only gripe is that no one was doing talks or demos or even able to feed the animals. Only the schools seemed...More

It's great to see city farms - such a contrast in the middle of unrelenting buildings, and this site is probably the best-organised one in Bristol. By the way, despite its name and the address given above, it's not really in Windmill Hill or Totterdown...More
