This is a beautiful, quirky, wild, gothic, Victorian cemetary. It is a place to quietly remember the dead, but it's also a thriving testament to life, with something to appeal to all ages and tastes. There's plenty of history, local wildlife and rambles to enjoy and it's often packed with dog walkers, runners and families. The lovely cafe caters to... More

Arnos Vale. Or is it Arno's Vale as the computerised voice on the bus seems to think? And if so who was Arno? No relation to the river that runs through Pisa - at least I don't think so. Once upon a time this was a cemetery outside the city of Bristol on the road to Bath. It stretches back... More

A wonderful haven in the heart of a city. Wild in places but full of stunning corners of remembrance.

Wonderful bit of Bristolian history to be found here. Great wildlife and a good place to bring children. Good little café on site and also doggy friendly.

We had a couple of hours spare and decided to go the the cemetery because it was advertised in the book in our hotel bedroom. We could have spent a lot more time there and slso would have liked to have taken the guided tour (done by volunteers at £5) but we had to go before the time. A really... More

I absolutely love this place. I travel from Wales a few times just to spend time here. It is such a beautiful place, full of wildlife, wild flowers and the monuments are absolutely stunning. We also went for the life, death ( and the rest ) exhibition there which was brill. I am so interested in death and commemoration and... More

A little haven in the centre of town. Love to wander, have a coffee and just relax. It is also good for talks.

This is a lovely place with an interesting history (worth a read up on). I find it a peaceful spot to walk with my dog (on lead-out of respect if nothing else!) Some areas still very overgrown and needing work, but sort of adds to the atmosphere. There is a cafe on site. Whilst i'm not a fan of this... More

We spent a very peaceful time here following the trail guide. The information is good, site well maintained, and volunteers very helpful. Having visited Highgate Cemetery I would say this is superior!
