It is a 2 mile walk to go round the walls but at the moment there are works in some of the areas which means a slight diversion off the walls. Good experience.

Visiting chester and thought we would go for a walk. The walls are a great way to see many parts of chester and enables you to further imagine the area before real development took place

We did the walk right around once which took about an hour with plenty of stops to take in the various views. A good way to see the oldest part of Chester

Walked right round the walls. A great way to see the racecourse, the river etc. You can get on and off the walls at several places and we found some lovely little private shops that we hadn't visited before

The information plaques are ideal - you don't need an tourist guide. Lots of staircases to access the walls so you can easily start and stop to see other things en route. The whole city centre is easily accessible can see everything in two days.

This is approx 2 mile walk. There are steps in parts. Excellent way to see all landmarks, places of interest. Lots of eating/watering holes around the wall for a break & then carry on. Definitely recommend.

If it's a reasonable day it is a very pleasant stroll with some nice views and interesting history. Mostly level.

Sorry for the delay in replying. The wall is free and open at all times. No guided tour but plaques explaining local sights and information at various points along the wall. The castle keep is free to to look around.

Loads of car parks in the centre, Grosvenor Hotel car park entrance - 1 mins to walls. Law Courts / river area car parks - 1 mins to wall. Race course / Market area car parks (lots of them) - 1 mins to walks - hope this helps
