I visited recently with my husband and two teenage girls. The walls are a free attraction and takes an hour or so to do a circuit at a strolling pace. We thought it was a great way to see the city and gave us a different perspective on it too! There are a few cafes on or near the walls... More

We decided to have a walk all the way round the walls. The guy at our guest house said it was roughly about two miles. I think it took us about 40 to 45 minutes to walk round in total. It is even in most places but you have to go up steps to get onto it. Some areas are... More

A must to walk around the wall and take photos please read the safety notice and enjoy. Look out for the Snowdonia mountain range in the distance.

Great way to see the city. The entire walk around isn't too long. It goes past the river dee, the high street, the cathedral, up round and down past the race course. We parked on the council car park by the castle and the university riverside campus. Great place to start the walk. Whatever you do, do not palk on... More

We walked the historic walls of Chester on s beautiful sunny day. So interesting and you take in so much of this gorgeous city including the race track and the cathedral. Only disappointment was that parts of the wall are being repaired just now but better that to preserve them than lose them! There are points along the wall with... More

Had a couple of hours before an appointment & decided to walk the city walls. Found the whole experience to be well worth it, only wished I could have spent more time at locations en route. If you're ever in Chester, make the city walls somewhere in your "to do" list!

My teenage children and I walked the route around the city walls. Quite informative with information boards along the way. Weather was not brilliant it would be nicer on a sunny day! Only about two miles, does not take too long.

Chester walls along with those in York are the best examples of in tact roman walls in England. Walking from the river Dee the walls climbe up to the Eastgate clock and on past Chester Cathedral before passing by King Charles Tower where it is said Charles watched the battle of Rowton Moor unfold. The walls then cross Nortgate Street... More
