Took my mother in wheelchair, mainly to see monkeys. Generally there is plenty of space for visitors but some areas eg giraffe house at feeding time can get congested, just need to be patient. Some areas not good for wheelchairs eg ribbed path near chimpanzees. Staff very helpful.

As someone born & bred in Chester, I'd kind of taken the zoo for granted until last weekend when I went there on a date. After seeing a few episodes of the TV documentary about the place, I realised just how much they'd jazzed the place up. Half the animals, like the elephants, looked absolutely bored out of their skulls.... More

Had a lovely day out. The place is enormous and we only made it around 1/3 way around in a day as we wanted to do it properly and know we will come back. We focused on the Islands and the enclosures that side of the park. The painted dogs were gorgeous showing pack tendencies while feeding. The bat enclosure... More

Even though some parts of the zoo were closed for the low season (mainly some of the refreshment kiosks) we had a great day out! It was cheaper to go in the off season as well. The staff are great and there are so many different and interesting animals to see. The new 'Islands' area in the northwest of the... More

Visited this zoo last minute on the way back from North Wales with my friend. We wanted something to do instead of going straight home and we are glad we visited. This zoo has a large variety of animals and would keep families busy all day. Plenty of things to do and good value for money! Would recommend to others... More

What a wonderful place, loads of animals to look at. Unfortunately we only gave ourselves 2 hours there before it shut and it definitely wasn't enough time as it is a huge place and involves lots of walking. We didn't get to see all the animals because of time limits but will definitely be going back to see the ones... More

Chester zoo can be a struggle to see in just one day. We've had family membership for five years now and try to do sections at a time to ensure we don't miss anything and every time we go we spot something new or different.

Came to see the kanterns last year and was really impressed. This year was a let down and felt like we couldnt get anywhere near the people dressed up because it was so crowded. We were pushed along with everyone, there were far too many people cramped into our time slot.

We love a day at Chester Zoo, probably one if the largest zoos around, so bring comfy shoes ! We admire this zoos ethos regarding conservation and reintroduction, it's also apparent that the animals here are cared for and well looked after. The zoo has expanded recently with its islands in danger display. From a practical point, you are never... More
