Completed the second half from The Pheasant Inn at Higher Burwardsley to Whitchurch. Fantastic climbs, elevated views and an amazing variety of scenery. a brilliant morning of a 17 mile walk ending with a drive back to The Pheasant and some grub.

I have walked many sections of the Sandstone Trail, but not all at once. I especially love the Peckforton , Bukeley and Bickerton sections of the trail with stunning views over the Cheshire Plain.

stayed close to the Sandstone trail, managed to do four circular walks in that time, some longer than others, that's the beauty of it you can do as much or as little as you want, lots of stunning views, plan to buy a book for our next visit, loved all of it.

We used the Sandstone Trail Guide book, and it was all we needed as the whole trail is mapped fully and very well described. We did some of the recommended diversions to interesting spots, which increased total mileage to 36+. It is a good choice for spring, as had the weather been wet the paths would still mostly have been... More

Recently walked all of the trail across 2 days. Although there are lots of signs marking the trail, i would imagine that some will be difficult to spot when covered with summer foliage so always take map as backup. Walking the trail from Frodsham direction there are very limited places to stop off for food and drink unless you divert... More

Searching online didn't produce much information regarding this attraction other than to see that there was a boo that could be purchased. In-fact I would go as far as to say that it appeared to be a best kept secret. From what I did manage to gleam we stopped at the Bickerton Poacher on the A534. There is a decent... More

Try this: I call it the "pub to pub" run and it is approx 6.5 miles. Start at the Shady Oak in Tiverton and run across country (or walk) to The Pheasant Inn. The trail takes you to Beeston Castle, across the fields to and up the woods to Peckforton and across to Burwardsley where you'll find The Pheasant. Proper... More

Parked at Bickering poacher and followed signs for trail, overgrown in places, steep walkways, I am disabled but managed, 2 knees, hip, arthritis, views at top excellent, wildlife in abundance, but signs disappear at times, best bit returning to pub for excellent hospitality.
