Newquay Zoo

A good zoo, nicely laid out. Went with my disabled son. With the use of a walking frame he had no problems wandering around. A visit took us about 2 hours including a little stop for a coffee.
Good information about the animals. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable

We love Newquay zoo!
Nov 2021 • Couples
This zoo was so much better than expected! Absolutely beautiful, well looked after, nice staff.
Had such a great day here, even went round some parts a second time.
The coffee at the park entrance was some of the nicest coffee too.
Enjoyed it more than Paignton zoo, would definitely go back again next time we visit Newquay :)

Sad little zoo
Nov 2021 • Family
Customer service was excellent. Plenty of parking and no queues (well it was November!).
But that’s probably it for positives ☹️
Just quite a sad little zoo. Not much there (which is probably a good thing). We only visited for the penguins - because my toddler is obsessed - and they looked happy enough but the big cats just make you sad and there is little else….

Fab place.

Really great little zoo. Lovely to see the animals up close and all looked well cared for. Prices are very competitive. Honestly well worth a visit.

Sweet park but entrance needs to be lowered
Nov 2021 • Family
It’s a lovely place to bring young children (safe, plenty of different animals, playground etc) but it feels a little tired / dated. Entrance is expensive especially compared to parks of same nature. Fortunately in November we didn’t have to pay to park (1st April
To 31st October charges apply I believe). Whilst the car park by the zoo is small there’s plenty up by skatepark etc.
Agree with comments re lions. I liked the settings that were on islands as felt the animals got some space. Particularly liked the lemurs.
Lunch at cafe lemur was really good and good value. The coffee at the kiosk near the playground was also really good and really nice lady served me.
All in all it’s a sweet park for young children but do feel it needs some investment and time to either rehome the lions to where they will have more space and create some at Newquay Zoo.

Great day out
Nov 2021
I took my son for a Junior Zoo Keepers day on Saturday 6/11. Jack was our guide and he was excellent. His level of knowledge about the zoo and the animals was second to none. For 2 hrs he kept my ADHD son fully engaged with interesting facts and stories (suitably gory) about the animals and their time at the zoo. I cannot recommend this day out enough, well done Newquay Zoo and Jack

OH MY ...go for the pizza alone !
Nov 2021
Visited this week and I have to post a review to mention the pizzas! amazing flavour, served in a great box so easy to share amongst children. I actually think they should serve these to people who don't even pay to go in the zoo!! Great value, super friendly cafe staff and very clean and spacious.

Overall the zoo was quiet but all staff were friendly. It was clear cleaning regimes are still all in place and nice to see all signs that little fingers touch being wiped and cleaned.

Now that even more of the zoo is open after the restrictions its well worth another visit.

Great in some areas, disappointing in others
Oct 2021 • Family
I came here yesterday with my wife and 3 young kids, one of whom is autistic and desperately wanted to see a sloth.

The first disappointing thing was the private car park which cost us £7 ish. It’s very busy and there’s no designated pedestrian walkway so it has zoo visitors walking in front of cars and all over the place. Other zoos I’ve visited have their own free car park so it’s hard not to compare.

As we got in we went straight to the cafe as we drove from Plymouth and we wanted to eat before heading around. At no point did I see a member of staff sanitise or clean any of the tables when a family left. It’s great to see loads of antibac foam dispensers around the zoo but as someone who’s been worked tirelessly at hospital for the last 18 months it’s a bit frustrating seeing staff can’t even be bothered to sanitise tables.

There were quite a variety of animals to see with some exclusive to this zoo that I’ve not seen in any other zoo which was nice.

I was disappointed that quite a few exhibits were on islands set within the middle of lakes or places you couldn’t reach. I understand staff can’t make the animals come out of their enclosures but it helps if we can see into them if they weren’t outside. As seen in other reviews too, the Lions enclosure did seem small for 3 adult lions and some decks for them to climb and bask on. There seemed to be plenty of space down by the wildebeests to build a larger lion enclosure.

Overall, our kids had fun and some of the animals were fun to observe and see but the cost of visiting, parking and eating would put me off returning anytime soon.

Loved by the little one
Oct 2021 • Family
This is loved by the little one (4) but it is quite a small zoo and expensive for what there is. But she loves it. Recommend to others

great day out
Oct 2021
nice day out, resonable price. the man who looked after the penguins was great, as well as the man running the cafe inbetween the penguins and lions, very nice. one thing that slightly bugged me was how small the enclosure was for the lions and tigers, then again there may be a reason for this. overall had a nice day out with the family
