Gorgeous little spot

A fab insight into the life of Barbara Hepworth, best visiting is spring / summer when the gardens are most alive.

If you're at all interested in art and sculpture in particular, this little gem is worth a visit - tack it onto a visit to the Tate when it reopens!

This is a substantial and varied collection of Barbara Hepworth sculptures beautifully laid out and set in the tranquil garden. Indoors is the exhibition of photos and some artifacts telling her life story.

We had tickets to the St Ives September Festival breakfast and talk tour of this Museum and garden. It was fantastic - very interesting talk by a lady who knew her subject well. The garden is beautiful and it is so much better to experience the sculptures in the setting that Barbara Hepworth created for them.

We visited on a bright but cold January day. We had an excellent introductory talk from one of the very knowledgeable volunteers and plenty of time to look around, for much of the time we had the garden to ourselves. Lovely to see the sculptures as they were placed and some of the smaller sale works

We were extremely lucky to visit in a quiet month when few others were there. In fact we spent most of our visit on our own - an absolute joy! It was fabulous to be able to wander around the sculptures at our leisure & without interruption. The whole museum is sympathetically laid out - giving one information about Barbara... More

Go early in the morning, it's quieter and gives you the chance of walking around the garden undisturbed.
