Lovely walk round the island with views of different beaches in St. Ives. Very enjoyable and within a short walk of the restaurants and cafes to sit and have a coffee, pasty or fish and chips afterwards

A short walk up the hill from the Island car park takes you to St Nicholas Chapel. You cannot enter the chapel but from here you will have excellent views across the bays and get a great sense of the beautiful cornish coast.

Finished up my morning in St. Ives by walking around The Island, admiring the wonderful scenic views of Porthgwidden and Porthmeor beaches. The Coastwatch Institute station is pretty neat, as well as what I assume are WWII gun locations. St. Nicholas Chapel is very quaint, end fitting for our December visit. Even with a pregnant, asthmatic partner in tow, it... More

Cold, grey day but a lovely walk through the tiny, winding streets to the island. Got a bit lost on the way down, but really all roads lead to the harbour.

The views are amazing and a great place to watch the surfers on Porthmeor beach below on one side and then on the other side beach lovers enjoying the sun on Porthgwidden beach and dipping in the calmer waters thanks to the shelter of the small cove it sits in. The sun rise and sunset are stunning and the different... More

It's always worth the short walk uphill to take in the views of the ocean and to look back over the town and study the garbled nooks and crannies that IS St Ives.

The Island is simply wonderful. A place to walk, or sit, take in the air, take in the history, and take in the breathtaking views. Although the Island attracts a lot of people, you never feel cramped or hassled. We love the Island, it is, somehow, the spiritual home of St Ives. What a place!

It's a short walk from the main town, and great for views and picture taking. Also good place for a picnic and away from the much busier town.

My favourite place in St Ives, we were staying metres from here, every morning i made a cup of tea and walked up to the Island to look at the view, it is breath taking, such beautiful coastal scenery looking over Porthmeor beach
