Good value pub grub

Just what you'd expect from pub dining, cheap and cheerful. Smiley bar staff, cosy surroundings. Not fine dining but just what we needed after a day on the beach! We'll be back !

Decided to have a go on the fun quiz as usual on a Monday night and decided to have a bite to eat before quiz also. I had steak and ale pie and was yummy. Only thing is be aware as there's regular's who are taking part in the quiz and take it far too seriously considering it was supposed... More

Heaving on a Monday evening as everyone wants to join in on the humiliation of the weekly quiz! The staff were friendly & extremely busy. Food looked good. Dog friendly. Kiddies not encouraged, which is fine by me, it's a pub not a cafe! Guinness was very smooth & creamy. Only 'but' was there weren't any amber/ IPA ales on... More

This a great pub to visit. Very friendly staff and great relaxed atmosphere. The 75% rum is try at your own risk. Wish I could take this pub with me to Essex to be my local

Friendly people who warmly welcomed us to the pub. Has live bands on which was fun. The prices were pretty good certainly better than expected as St Ives is not cheap. Will be back, most likely this evening!!

Love going to the castle - this is a really chilled old fashioned pub - lady serving behind the bar had so much patience with our kids when they were trying to decide what crisps they wanted - the wine and pint we had were great - and it is a lot less touristy. Really recommend.

A traditional pub with lovely food. A hidden St Ives gem. Homemade food at cheap prices. Look forward to coming back again in the Summer.

We took a break in Cornwall and happened upon this quaint looking pub and noticed that they did scones with clotted cream. So we went in and ordered 2 one for each ( or at least that's what we thought) our lovely pot of tea came and not long afterwards came two huge plates each with two quite large still... More

We popped in here as we liked the look of the outside, old and quaint. It was very quiet but chap behind the bar was very friendly, good selection of local beers and ciders, lovely inside, lots of dark wood and a nice atmosphere. My first visit and will be back

Excellent pub with a friendly barman and a fine selection of real ales in top class condition. Live music three nights a week.Interesting customers who were first class entertainment.I have been coming to St Ives for thirty five years and I can't believe I have missed this gem.
