Sherborne Castle and Gardens is open from 25th March 2016 to 30th October 2016. (Please refer to the website for more information). Sherborne Castle was built by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1594 and has been the home of the Digby family since 1617. It is steeped in history and has nationally important collections of Art, furniture and porcelain and has one of Capability Brown's finest landscapes. We are Ambassador site for the Capability Brown Tercentenary Festival celebrations.

Domestic scale house converted from a hunting lodge and later extended. Most guides were knowledgeable and engaging and interesting furniture and artefacts. Sadly few of Raleigh's possessions still remain and the view towards the lake and old castle is largely obscured by treesMore

We have been intending to visit the castle and gardens each time we visit Sherborne. We visited on a sunday and pleased we did. The castle and grounds are wonderful, the staff informative, pleasant and helpful. Very reasonable price to visit the castle and gardens....More

Visited the house and gardens on a Saturday morning. Both were interesting and the guides within the house very friendly and knowledgeable. Would recommend for a stress free visit. Also great cream tea in the café!

Historic house, knowledgeable and very friendly guides, beautiful grounds to wander and a quant tearoom with garden serving good d food. A winning combination. Don't change a thing!!

Thank you. Just checking access for scooter users. I have read the helpful comments above and looking forward to the gardens later today. Staying at our friends hotel The Grange in Oborne which is a 3 star hotel with 5 star service. They have recommended today at Sherborne Castle. Regards Christopher Fox-Walker

Sorry for the late reply - you've probably found the answer out already! It's a while since we went but I'm pretty sure there is access for scooter and wheelchairs but I'll be honest I'm not 100% sure.
