Took a trip whilst in Swanage for Christmas and it was enjoyed by all of the family, dog included. Staff all helpful and friendly and probably the only railway that runs on time these days! Some might say its a bit pricey, which I understand, but I feel its better to keep this engines working rather than sat there. They... More

We had a lovely afternoon on the Swanage Railway, albeit a bit expensive I understand its all voluntary and therefor it has to be to make money. Putting that aside it was great to travel on an old steam train and carriages. They accepted our medium size dog as well. We travelled to Corfe Castle got off in Corfe and... More

The staff and volunteers deserve full credit for restoring and running these steam trains. Great way to spend a few hours. Staff let you have a look and stand in the footplate area. Lovely journey to Corfe Castle through beautiful countryside. Highly recommended

While visiting Swanage town I spotted Steam coming from an engine in the town centre. We walked up to the station just as the steam train was leaving. We did nt have time to wait for the next one but had a wander around the station which looked great . Swanage Railway

We enjoyed a special Steam Railway trip on 23rd December on the Christmas Belle. We were served delicious canapes, champagne and soft drinks. Everyone received a card and a lovely key ring. It was a wonderful experience. Just bring your camera and enjoy the nostalgia. The trip lasted an hour, but we could spend as long as we liked at... More

Took my tree year old son to expereince the santa train ride. A real treat with a great atmosphere on board. We were treated to mince pies and a glass of sherry while he had a busicuit and juice. Santa was great and took his time talking to all the children, in addition a lady came round and made model... More

Go on, climb aboard behind the steam engine. History comes alive with the hiss of steam. This is a wonderful way to avoid the busy winding roads. The railway has a car park at the northern end and you can Park and Ride to the fantastic Corfe Castle (and arrive far closer to the castle and village centre than any... More

We took a one way trip to Corfe Castle by train (£7) which had lovely scenery and very picturesque stops on the way. Swift half in Bankes Arms then a scenic (if not a little windy) walk along the nearby ridge back down to Swanage. The walk is optional as you can get a return train trip should you prefer!
