With two pairs of young feet with us, we could only manage a short 4mile walk from Heathfield to Horam, and back. It was a brilliantly sunny day, the clarity of the birds tweeting and whistling, and the trees towering over us -- set the perfect backdrop for the relaxing stroll. It would have been better to travel by bike... More

As we live in the area this makes for a quiet country walk. Open fields and woodland all around and walk is on a well maintained tarmac path. Used by walkers dog walkers and cyclists. Can be enjoyed by all age groups.

This trail is very popular to us. If you fancy a walk come to cuckoo trail and I'm sure you will enjoy it. Nice place to walk, cycle or jog, but be careful though sometimes there are some horses and dogs too. You will enjoy the view and the surroundings, plenty of trees and wild flowers as well as blackberries... More

This was the first time we had experienced the 'Cuckoo Trail' and we had a great time. We started at 'Heathfield' (small car parking facility available) and headed down the trail towards Eastbourne. The ride going was pretty easy if I am honest we probably rolled for most of it. There are lots of spots to stop for a quick... More

We cycled the cuckoo trail from Polegate. It's clearly signposted and we'll kept. Will visit again with the children next time

We are new to the area and were delighted to discover this lovely trail. Loads of wild flowers, safe to walk or cycle on - although if walking you do have to watch out for the odd bike without a warning bell. Great to walk dogs on or off the lead We will certainly be adding this to our list... More

Recommended by a friend who previously did the trail. Started off from the trails start at Heathfield, there is a car park at the start, but being both free and opposite a small trading estate, the chance of finding a space during the week is virtually impossible, I parked in the short term up to 3 hours behind Tesco Express... We cycled the 8 miles from hailsham, north to heathfield via hellingly and horam, and then back again. As an inexperienced cycling family of 4, two kids, (9 and 11) and my wife and I we found this challenging but achievable. 90% of the route is beautiful, scenic and exactly as it was 50 years ago, winding through beautiful Sussex...
