There are many unusual and individual shops here, no large chains, and it's a great place to purchase gifts, or just to sit with a drink and do a spot of people watching, and there's certainly a wide variety of shoppers/tourists here, very bohemian!

Well worth a wander through these streets, a large variety of quaint shops full of antiquities. Lovely atmosphere.

The North Laine area of Brighton is a must see part of the city. It is a mix of shopping and residential streets, intersected by innumerable twittens (Sussex word for alleys). The shops are an eclectic mix with virtually no chains represented. There are many cafés, bars and restaurants with a higher than usual proportion of vegetarian outlets. Particular attractions... Plenty to see and do, rest and refresh . Can be crowded but visitors can buy goods not seen or really seen anywhere else .

This is a refreshing walk amongst stores that you will only find here. The tour books describe this as a rougher more eclectic part of town. This means it's the interesting part of town. We visited the North Laine and absolutely loved it. Lots of quirky shops and a lovely atmosphere. Fabulous for getting a drink and sitting outside people watching. Lovely friendly and happy people..Chilled relaxed vibe.
