Such fun!

Lovely little electric railway that goes along the seafront. Ends up at a decent playpark for the kids. Price reasonable. Don't forget to wave to everyone!

The oldest surviving electric railway in the country runs for a couple of miles along the Brighton Coast between the Palace Pier (Yes, it is The Palace Pier NOT "Brighton Pier"!!....sorry, strike for tradition!!) and Black Rock/Marina. It is an entirely reliable summer service....unlike the train that might or might not have carried you to Brighton! The Volks railway is... More

Lovely peace of English history, and one of the first of its kind, opened way back in 1883 on August 4th. When it was presented to the people of Brighton an electric railway and doing towards the Marine about 1/4 quarter of a mile hope they might be able to get right down into the Marine one day, nice little run... Nice yo ride up and down the front in the sunshine. Restored to a great standard and reasonably priced with a half way stop too. Great for getting from the pier to the harbour.

This historic little railway runs with one side adjacent to the road and the other to Brighton's pebble beach, between the town and the marina. Its one of the earliest electric railways in existence, dating from the 1880s. The ride takes about 20 minutes in each direction and includes a stop at a childrens pleasure park half way. It is... A ride along a not particularly attractive area of Brighton. The Volks railway is ancient and only maintained by hardworking volunteers and it's a shame Brighton council or The Lottery do not provide more help for this piece of English history!!! So please use it and help to keep it running it's great fun!!

This is a delightful piece of history as it is the first electric railway in the world. Now operated by Brighton Council, the line runs along the front at Brighton to the Marina. At under £4 return for an adult, I think this offers really good value, and avoids the rather long walk from central Brighton to the Marina which... More

My husband and I were so happy to see that the Volks railway was still running and being maintained. We loved the trip, took us back to when we were younger.

We came upon this adorable train by chance. We had just finished a game of crazy golf and was going to walk towards the Marina so this was an excellent alternative to walking! We bought a family return ticket for £9.70 which I think is reasonable as I'm sure the rail tracks need maintenance. Running from Aquarium station to Black... More

We took the train from the marina to the pier. Not bad value £2.90. Very rickety, but that's part of the fun! At the half-way point, they crammed in more people and everyone was very uncomfortable.
