Wow what a beautiful walk this was. The scenery was so much better than I had expected. I hadn't realised that we would be walking on hills much of the time with lovely views. It was hillier than expected and so be prepared for some...More

We both thoroughly enjoyed our Cotswold Way walk. Although in hindsight we should have gone for 12 days of walking to reduce the extra amount of walking time, should have listened to Malcolm!! The 4 days of walking 20+ kilometres was just a bridge too...More

We are so privileged to live in this beautiful county of Gloucestershire. Nothing fails to amaze me, the beauty of rolling hills, and trails like this. Open spaces and lush green grass in abundance! Great for all ages and abilities, most accessible to wheelchair users....More

We have just completed the first half of the Cotswold Way between Chipping Camden and Painswick. It is a gorgeous route - varying between stunning views from the escarpment, delightful woodland (bluebells in full bloom were an added bonus) and a few Cotswold villages. There...More

I am glad you enjoyed the Trail. You picked a great time of year with the bluebells in flower. It is good advice to take provisions with you, as it's surprising how remote some of the Trail is. I hope you enjoy the second half...More

We only walked the first part of the way, starting at Chipping Campden. The walk starts with nice views from Dover Hill and continues with more nice views of the landscape, varying from rolling hills to forest to more rocky parts, taking you to the...More

I am glad you enjoyed the walk. There are lots more beautiful views as you head further south along the Trail.

Every June nearly 100 teams of 10 runners each take on the Cotswold way over the course of a day, from Broadway to Bath. Each section is between 10 and 13 miles long (ish) and over challenging but beautiful terrain. It's not marshalled, but fortunately...More

Just completed this trail over 9 stages of about 12 miles each. What a wonderful walk with all stages having wonderful views as well as many historical sites. It is not easy as all sections seem to go up onto the ridge and back down...More

Management response:

Hi Michael, So glad you enjoyed the walk and found the route well marked. There are lots of other long distance paths across the Cotswolds if you fancy another challenge. Best wishes Richard, Cotswolds Conservation Board Access Officer

Having walked part of this long-distance footpath, we found that it is well-signposted and provides an excellent route to explore this beautiful area. We hope that we shall have the opportunity to walk additional stretches in the future.

The Cotswold Way links geography, geology and history together creating as memorable a few days walking as you will get anywhere in the UK. For instance, today's section took us from Seven Springs, once the reputed source of the Thames, to Salterley Grange. The mist...More

You can get the train to Bath Spa station and then walk the Cotswold Way from south to north. This means you get the prevailing wind behind you. At the north end, there is no station in Chipping Campden, but you can get the... More
My husband and I walked 200 miles on the Camino de Santiago in Spain and stayed in hostels along the way. We did not book reservations in advance because we did not want to feel pressure to be at the certain place or we could stay longer if we liked it the area. Do you recommend making reservations at BB's on this trail? Most guidebooks say to do this even when we walked in Spain, but we had no trouble finding a place. We also noticed that some places require a 2 nite minimum. Was this a problem? We are walking in June and stay for 3 weeks. We know that it will not take this long to walk but wanted to enjoy our time before, after, and along the way.

Hi. I would recommend making reservations at that time of year, as accommodation can be limited in some places along the Trail. I walked it over 8 days last year, averaging around 12 miles a day. You will have plenty of... More
