Just visited Fort `Nelson for the first time, although lived in the area for many years. This museum, with FREE ENTRY is a fabulous day out. especially for the boys, there is such a vast range of artillery. and the fort itself is so special. Excellent cafe with sensible prices.

Very good, interesting, plenty of space to walk around, informative and as it is free entry, you couldn't ask for more. Suitable for any weathers. Indoor and outdoor things to see. Not really suitable for very young children. Easy to get around, but not if you have alot of trouble walking. A really good day out.

My wife and I decided to visit this because the Submarine and Explosion Museums in Portsmouth were closed. We were so glad we did. It never occurred to us that we could be so interested in artillery. One of us had studied Palmerston at school and had learnt a lot from visits to other of his warmongering sites.. But our... More

This is one of the best free attractions we have ever been to, even parking is free. There are as you would expect a lot of interesting really old cannnons, field guns and personal items of the men who were posted there. You get to see how the men lived, where they slept the old guard room and the thing... More
