If you have entered Southampton by ship, an extra day or two in this city is worthwhile. It has a very active college population with several restaurants and other attractions. While small, the City Art Gallery is definitely worth a visit.

Popped into the gallery before heading home and was pleasantly surprised on how good the collection was.It was well lit and not over filled. It was free entry and there no audio guides. Downside was I had to drag my suitcase around.
