After being into Southampton we got the ferry back to Hythe. Ferry was small but at 4pm not many people going to Hythe. Is worth a day out. £7.00 RETURN trip.

After Holy Rood Church, we walked further down on High Street and found Town Quay. It was a very quiet area. Besides some restaurants and Queen’s Park, there is nothing much to do there beside is part of the walk of Southampton walls. The Red...More

We were travelling across to the Isle of Wight and missed our ferry by 5mins. So turned into the Town Quay pier and pulled into an empty car park as it was late at night watching the other boats leave the harbour and the twinkly...More

Town Quay is a good spot to watch the ships go by providing your don't mind paying the parking fees and stay out of the buildings which have become desolate and eerie over the years. Mayflower Park is almost adjacent and is probably a better...More

Town Quay has an almost desolate feel to it, other than Red Funnel ferry terminal, there is really very little here. The terminal itself is tired and dirty looking with overpriced, not great quality refreshments. Other than the ferry, I can't see any reason to...More

Been fishing here they are a bit funny about it but usually don't tell anyone to go, you don't catch that much , but there's always water here no matter what the tides up to, the car park is notorious for people getting fined!

A really nice place to stroll around, great views over the Solent and to the mainland, lots of boats to look at, so colourful. Nice town with great bs routes to and from it.

During a trip to Southampton we went to Town Quay and thought it looked a rough area with boarded up buildings and a lot of rubbish on the ground. Overall this is not the nicest area of Southampton and I wouldn't bother to visit, there...More

Thank you everyone for the warnings about Town Quay - Parking Eye are about the worst crooks in te whole crooked world of car parking - and this looks like one of their worst scams. Glad to know in advance to avoid this trap. The Triangle car park not far along the road is more reasonable. There are also Southampton city council pay and display car parks not too far away. The scam of fining you if you happen to exceed 15 mins waiting for a passenger from RFS RedJet or car ferry is daylight robbery coupled with a minimum charge for 2 Hours if you want to avoid the excessive £100 rip off fine for exceeding 15 mins. Not sure if it is Parking Eye of Associated British Ports who sets this policy but whoever it certainly achieves the desired aim of discouraging potential visitors from coming anywhere near this trap. Last time i was there (fortunately travelling on Redjet & free bus to the station, it seemed bereft of life in the evening, everything shut - so why they charge 24 hours a day beggars belief. Who wants to go to this dead place in the evening/night and pay their extortionate parking fees to do so. No doubt their next trick will be to charge to to WALK in this place and fine you if you walk in the area for more than 30 mins!!! Thank goodness RedFunnel are planning to move away from here. Just hope in their plans they will have adequate facilities to drop off and meet foot passengers in their new facilities in stead of this appalling trap at Town Quay

Southampton City Council are equally as bad. I got fined at 9.30 at night in a car park, which has poor signage and did not make it clear that it was 24 hour payment, Its such an awful City they should be trying to persuade... More
