My children, and in particular my son, were enthralled by this exhibiiton, (they are in their 30's). The curators are knowledgeable and keen to share this if you ask questions. How amazing to be in the presence of some things so ancient and which reflects our developing understanding of the world. How many scholars sat at the library over the... More

Way more interesting than I had anticipated. Largest chained library in the World, the Mappa Mundi is a rare and unique world map and the collection includes a copy of the magna carts. Good to see some history.

If you appreciate history, if you wanna experience British rural life, Ludlow & Hereford are the perfect places to visit. Beautiful small towns with great food. Hereford's Cathedral is amazing. The Mappa Mundi is more than amazing. It`s one of its kind- it really gives you an idea how people thought and felt 800 years ago. Helpful and very friendly... More

The Mappa Mundi is a UNESCO certified artefact. This is the largest mediaeval world map known to exist. The chained library is less renowned but very significant attraction at this site. As a law student, this was particularly fascinating due to the large collection of literature on pre-modern Canon Law.

This is a must visit place inside Hereford Cathedral. Strongly recommended. Lots of other historic items on display. Hereford used to be part of Wales. Amazing history.

If you are interested in history you must see the map if visiting Hereford. If you love books the chained library is special. Good cafe.
