This is my favourite place in Canterbury - a beautiful, ancient sacred site dating back to the time of St. Francis. The gardens are a perfect place to have a quiet sandwich on a sunny day, or simply to enjoy the wild flower meadow. The...More

Worth the time to have a look, couldn't go in but a nice building to look at in a nice setting. It is set in a sort of garden area so you can go and just find a nice quiet place to relax nearby.

A very happy surprise it was to happen upon the Greyfriars Chapel and the Franciscan garden. It's a good place to rest and to be. A large field is sown with wild flowers every year. Yes, this is a very romantic and quiet haven within...More

Was lucky to visit a few days before the winter closure. Gorgeous surroundings and a oasis of peace in bustling Canterbury. The chapel was open and the visit free. Shame it closes from October onwards for the winter.

Hidden away down a path is one of the oldest buildings in Canterbury. Located by the river, whilst only small represents a key factor of Canterbury as it has developed through to today. Free to see and of great historical value.

On my trip to Canterbury, I stumbled across Greyfriars Gardens. It's just a few minutes' walk from the city centre where you can see punting on the river.

Set in a field of wild flowers this ancient building is very impressive and it was worth going even though the day we chose it was closed. I am intrigued enough to pay another visit.

Fascinating chapel ~ 13th century and the first in England of the Franciscans. Interesting building, with informative displays. The prison was spooky, with original old graffiti. The gardens were extremely peaceful and quiet [as they are supposed to be]. This part of Canterbury fascinating historically...More
