Good way of seeing hidden Hull

This is a great way to see the Old Town of Hull and explore its Maritime history. I was disappointed that some of the fish were missing due to the City of Culture 2017 re vamping of the city center. I sincerely hope the Council reinstate all the fish again once the works are completed. I will return in the... More

The fish trail is an unguided walk around some of Hulls more hidden treasures. Get a guidebook from tourist information and follow the brass fish set into the pavement. The trail is as long as you want to stick with it and has lots of watering holes along the way. If you like history, quirky facts and gorgeous buildings you... More

I thought this might be a good way to have a walking tour of Hull but the vast amounts of building and resurfacing works mean that many of the fish are gone. Bit pointless if you're never sure which ones are definitely going to be there.

We loved doing this trail. It was very interesting and a bit exciting spotting the different fish in different media. But the resurfacing works and preparations for 2017 have removed a whole lot of them. We only spotted 22 out of 41. It was great fun and took us to places we might never have ventured. Please restore it Hull... More

You can't miss spotting the existence of the 'Fish Trail' but they come in all shapes and sizes and on different media. The humour comes from the link of the 'fish' with the location - Pilot Whales, Electric Eels - work out for yourself where they are situated :-) They add a lot of interest and kids will love being... This is a walking tour around the older parts of Kingston upon Hull in which you can find models and engravings of over 40 different fishes. You can get a superb map from the Tourist Information Office which is situated near the City Hall. You will see a shoal of Anchovies on the pavement as your first find and off you... More

As the centre of Hull is currently in the midst of pre-2017 City of Culture improvements, some of the fish have been removed for safekeeping and will be returned once the pavements have been re-installed. However, you can still spend a couple of hours tracking the rest down, during which you will see a lot more of the town than... More

This is a free activity which takes you around the old parts of Hull while looking for fish plaques that are around the area. Maps from the city/tourist information centre.
