Iv visited the Lake District many occasions and each time I'm never dismayed. Plan ahead though as the walks are long and it's also always best if you take someone with to accompany you whilst rambling. I will be visiting the Lake District again very soon so will repost an update but definitely without a doubt one of my all... More

Had a lovely weekend away and spent around £600 on the hotel, meals out, christmas shopping etc .Parked for a couple of hours in the Wateredge carpark (Ambleside). We had trouble paying at the machine (which gave no receipt) and had no number to ring to tell of the malfunction .On returning home we find we have been double charged. Upon contacting... More

As Bill Bryson wryly observed in his 2015 travelogue, “The Road To Little Dribbling”, that, “..the Lake District, when it is fine, and it is at least that, is surely the most beautiful place on earth” and ".... Britain's three triple countryside activities are : walking, cycling and sitting in a lay-by by having a nap." The Lake District National... More

We actually went to visit Hesket, New Market on the Calderbeck fells which is a small village or hamlet on the northern edge of the Lake district national park. It has a main street with lovely 18th century cottages a village shop a pub and a rather strange hall. The hall was built in 1630 it was a house of... More

We parked at the Parkwithease car park on the 15th September. It has a payment upon leaving machine. Being ready to leave we entered our motorhome reg. number, paid the required fee, returned to the vehicle and left. So why did we get a parking fine a month later. We paid the fine because we had by then binned the... More

Fantastic holiday, despite the weather! We booked ourselves a cottage in the middle of nowhere, equal distance between Lake Coniston and Windermere. If i'd done my research better I wouldn't have put ourselves somewhere so isolated. Our landlords were very welcoming and we were greeted with milk, tea, coffee, sugar, homemade jam etc in our petite kitchen. So much to... More

Beautiful with lots to do. Travelled the whole of the lake district in 3 days it is simply stunning. I got to say that north wales is a little nicer for views.

Lake District National Park is a fantastic place, with excellent views. All the lakes are worth a visit, but some of my favourites are Coniston Water, Ullswater and Derwent Water. Lots of things to do and see. Also there are lots of nice places to eat and drink, (look at my other reviews to see where is best to eat,... More

We had a blow out on one of our electric assist bikes while visiting the lakes. And we had to get a new 20" tyre. Halfords at Kendal had the tyre and inner tube and the friendly staff fitted it within the hour, while we had a coffee next door. Well done
