Lowish level walk with great views. Looking for a day off from the heights, but want to keep the legs working? Then this is for you. A little steep at times, but with plenty of respite. the rout is very clear, the views magnificent. Some history too.

Lovely Church service was well attended true feeling of what Christmas is supposed to mean. This church is in excellent condition the inside is so different from the outside, it is always open.

A bit steep up and down but well worth it for the views. Easy to follow route - worth taking your pole. The bridge across the stream has washed away so be careful crossing the water

Great walk up to the Tarn, but its hard work and gravelly in places. You need to be quite fit and take walking poles with you to steady yourselves!Nice to find a sheltered bit of rock to eat a picnic while admiring the Tarn and Ducks!

A hard walk up past Dove Cottage and through the wood... but views are spectacular! Essential good foot ware walk and sticks are helpful for surer footing...

This is a lovely quiet walk to choose and fairly easy for a quick morning or afternoon round trip from grasmere. Much less busy than Easedale tarn, but then it is smaller and there isn't the waterfall.

Alcock tarn is a short , albeit steep walk which can be started in Grassmere and is perfect to take the children for a picnic lunch. You can sit on the edge of the tarn and watch the fish as you eat your lunch.

this is a fairly easy walk to the top of the tarn and can be done from a least two start / finish points. either from the top of the village near the pub or past the Dove Cottage at the other end of the village. the climb can be steep in places and having done both, I would suggest... More

There are some steep parts heading up to and down from the Tarn so although for the serious hiker it's not too challenging, you know you've had a walk. I went with my girlfriend who is a bit hill adverse and there were a few moans going up :-) but she finally agreed that the views over Grasmere were worth... More

A great little walk out of the village past Dove Cottage and upwards. Quite steep ascent but well worth the climb. The Tarn is quite small but a lovely spot to take a break before the descent back to the village ending up at the Swan Inn on the main road.
