If you are in the lake distract I would recommend to stop in grasmere ginger bread shop! We were told this was the best ginger bread and it really was! The people in the shop are dressed in olden day cloths and the smell coming out of the shop is Devine! Our 5 year old daughter loved seeing the shop... More

It is worth a trip to this tourist destination to get the gingerbread. Also try the rum butter (although I was the only one to eat it with the gingerbread - everyone else were purists).

We were told to get the best gingerbread ever on our way back from the Lakes by a friend. We didn't know what to expect but were impressed at the queue that was out the door and round the corner. I don't really like gingerbread but this was great. So glad we bought a bag of 12 so it lasted... More

Beautiful produce from ginger biscuits, ginger honey to ginger cordial and what a small gem in a stunning location. This tiny shop is so traditional even the few staff are dressed up like an era ago with frilly mop caps and aprons and it's not gimmicky just as it was years ago and has never changed. It must be fantastic... More

We have been coming here for many years now and it's worth the journey from Manchester just to eat a little piece of heaven that is Sarah Nelsons gingerbread! However much we bring back it always gets demolished within the day! This time along with the gingerbread, we tried the raspberry and ginger marshmallows which were divine and took a couple... More

Staff member in fancy dress couldn't be bothered to even acknowledge me as she was too busy talking to her mate in the kitchen. Left without spending and money. Completely unacceptable.

This is a popular ginger bread bakery in Grasmere. You can smell the lovely aromas even before you step inside. The shop is a bit small but if you are after ginger bread - there is nothing else that you can get as original as this. Should pop in for a try when you are in the area.

Apparently you can't go to Grasmere without sampling Sarah Nelson's traditional gingerbread. In fact, when you're in the small village there is a constant stream of tourists headed that way, so when we visited the area for the first time we joined them! It was the Easter holidays, so the village was quite busy and when we got to the... More

On a trip here from USA and our guide told us about this wonderful place. Oh goodness it is delicious and we definitely had to purchase a tin to take home with us. I can't wait to get home and have tea with this ginger bread!!!
