Been to Hawkshead many times but never seen inside this really historic building. The gentleman who showed us around really knew what he was talking about and make the visit enjoyable. Definitely worth a visit .

Easily missed but well worth entrance fee. Excellent history chat by the caretaker and, if you like history, a really good insight into the life and times of Wordsworth

Wordsworth's school is a must-see museum. Not just because of it's association with the poet but for a glimpse into the past as how schools once were. The school is quite small and a visit takes little time but everyone should pay it a visit. The curator is wonderfully knowledgeable and friendly despite probably having to repeat everything many times... More

Some very important men passed through the doors of Hawkshead Grammar and the trustees have worked hard to keep the main building as s tribute to the education offered to boys like Wordsworth. The staff are well informed and this is a good place to spend an informative hour in Hawkshead

Wonderful insight into an old grammar school. The person on duty there provided lots of extra info about the curriculum and school life. Well worth a visit - not expensive.

We popped in here whilst in Hawkshead for the afternoon. The entry fee was minimal and the man who was collecting at the entrance was an absolute fountain of knowledge. We spent around half an hour here, taking photographs, reading the information boards and looking at the primary sources upstairs. Well worth a visit; note the middle of the day... More

Not too much to see but very interesting and a good insight into education of the time. The Wordsworth connection is good. Excellent attendant brought it alive.

We popped in today for a quick visit. The kids enjoyed listening to the guide telling them how things used to be. They did decide they are glad they didn't have to go to school in that era! Kids get in free, so it was a good passing of an hour.

I'm a real history lover, my husband much less so, but I managed to persuade him to have a look in here on our recent visit to Hawkshead (and I think the £2.50 entrance fee helped!) Well, what an amazing place, from the moment we stepped in the guide was so interesting and informative, full of amazing facts without being... More
