I actually came here in August 2015 and had a lovely day. Beautiful surroundings and gardens and nice to spend the day on a hot summers day There's a lot of history here and I recommend a visit. A beautiful example of National Trust. Take a picnic and spend all day in the castle and gardens. I would happily visit... More

This is a stunning house set in lovely landscaped grounds. It is lovely to walk around the gardens and the house itself is fascinating. Good cafe provides lunch and younger members of the family could run off energy in the extensive park land. Good day out. Visit Sizergh Farm as well . Interesting and sells some great food in the... Beautiful grounds and a lovely hall. To walk around here is to taste a slice of perfect English history. The gardens at different times of the year are spectacular.

We were having a wonderful time here after getting our tickets a wonderful lady on the till directed us to the barn for some pumpkim carving. The kids loved it as did mum and dad. Everyone in the barn were lovely, helpful and engaging, we left smiling and happy. From there we proceeded to do the bat hunt and on... More

My wife and I as NT/HHA members were visiting properties whilst vacationing for three days in Cumbria and started with Sizergh Castle ( been in the hands of the Strickland family since 1239 and have gifted it to the National Trust in 1950). We have reviewed as average to good as we found the limestone rock garden/kitchen garden/lake very beautiful... More

If you want to see Northern England in it's autumnal 'Sunday best' then Sizergh is the place. I was moved to tears, my daughters were speechless.

The gardens have fabulous colour and are well worth a visit. They include the best stumpery I have seen anywhere, also well kept vegetable gardens, orchard and limestone rockery with Autumn colour. Everything was well tended and well labelled. The house, by contrast, was dark and gloomy so much so that we were not inclined to linger. The cafe was... More

Called today House is great cafe a disaster. All headless chickens the staff. No plates was handed food in napkins because they had no plates. Food really poor quality and way over priced. Shortage of salt and vinger chips appalling and cold.

Visited here on a beautiful sunny day in October. The rock garden was beautiful, full of acers in varying shades of red, a few dahlias remained in the main garden and the pond looked very pretty. The house itself was very interesting and very much still lived in. Well worth a visit
