We choose this activity for a rainy day, not our wisest decision. On reaching the mine entrance we were faced with walking along disused railway tracks which were acting as funnels for the water escaping the mine. Sensible footwear a must! The hard hats prevented...More

Interesting stop over for 30 to 40 min. They have a gift shop, but was very busy in August and stock was low. You can see the work area and workers polishing slate for goods. More interesting to hike up to the Slate Mine, I...More

Having slight reservations about visiting a mine tour with kids we were pleasantly suprised with the event. Tour guides are knowledgeable, friendly and very interactive which makes such a difference from some commercial caves tours we've been on in the past. Tours last about 90mins...More

We really enjoyed our visit. Really interesting and our tour guide 'Tori' was brilliant with the children. It was very interesting and had a bit of geology, geography and socio-economic history. Tori made all of this accessible to young and old. The children were enraptured....More

Very interesting tour, led by enthusiastic and entertaining guides. They split the group up, with kids getting the easier trip.

Donald was an excellent guide, sharing his own experiences of a very hard way of life. He pulled no punches and told the story graphically the way it was.

This is a must visit if your anywhere near Honister Pass or staying at the Hostel next door or down the road at Borrowdale. Certainly worth seeing as a family or as an individual. Even to get a souvenir.

Yes we have the Kimberley Mine tour that runs daily. It's mainly on the level and is a fairly flat surface. It goes approximately 200m inside the mine. It will involve stooping downwards slightly for approximately 40m. I... More
