I've been to the Castlerigg stone circles a few times to learn more and more each visit. Not necessarily a must for the ordinary visitor, because they are a long way to go from Keswick just to see a circle of "stones", but visitors on...More

Whilst in Keswick we went to visit Castlerigg Stone Circle. This was very interesting if you like this sort of thing. There is an ice-cream van situated near by that sells guide books that explains the history behind the stones. It is situated in a...More

Worth a look if you're in the Lake District and can also form part of a circular walk starting and finishing in Keswick

A very atmospheric place to get great views over the surrounding countryside and as we went there fairly early in the morning it was virtually deserted.

take in the views either sunny or cloudy and get an amazinf experience of life of yester year. Even the sheep are fiendly. The stones feel warm to the touch. A must place to visit

Thank goodness I heard about this place - lovely to visit -near Keswick. If you want to photograph it without other people there I guess go early morning or later.

After many visits to Keswick we visited the stone circle, which is actually slightly oval. An information board is present but seems to have been vandalised but some detail can be gleaned. An interesting place to call in.
