We visited Aira Force via the Ullswater 'Steamer' boat as a return trip from Glenridding pier which was around £9.50 per person return and a 20 minute crossing each way. The waterfall is just a 0.9 mile 15-20 minute walk from the Aira Force car...More

The GPS took us to the Higher Cascades and after a short hike, we were at the waterfall. Have seen more magnificent waterfalls so the experience was kinda underwhelming. Don’t mind the hike, but the parking fees certainly discourage me from coming back.

Even in a drought years (2018), there is enough water to make the falls worth the trek. A fairly steep 500 m climb from the pay parking lot by the lakeside (5 GBP). Worth it.

Although the falls were not strong due to the recent hot and dry weather we have been having, the walks are in forest and very cool. The falls are still spectacular and there are opportunities to go down to the river as well which the...More

We climbed expecting waterfalls to marvel at. Not so I'm afraid! Its a moderate climb about 1.5hrs round trip, unless there has been heavy rainfall the falls are dry and not spectacular. Pick your day for best effect. Free to see but paying car park

As national Trust members, we were able to get free parking in the car park, which was great, however, if we had to pay, it would have been well worth it. Aira force was a lovely walk and a real treat. We were lucky to...More

Gentle walk uphill through leafy woodlands. Saw a Yew tree that must be very ancient. Lovely waterfalls, tho low at the moment due to the current sunny, but dry conditions. Well worth a visit.

Going on my own experience, and observation of other sightseers, a person with average levels of fitness should have little or no problems navigating to the top of the falls. Others with lower levels of fitness can, and do... More
