Spent around 2 1/2 hours ambling down(and back) the well-maintained track from near Dockray to Ullswater. The March weather was lovely (great benefit for this 'sofa ambler') and the route fairly busy with walkers of all ages, but not to the extent that it detracted from the lovely scenery and wonderful river, waterfalls and magical bridges. There are car-parks (3... More

This is quite a sight to see. There are several National Trust car parks which allow access to different points along the river, & there are good paths & signage.

This is a good place to visit if you like walking or just being outdoors. Following a weekend of heavy rain, the waterfall was very impressive. There's a lovely National Trust tea rooms and clean toilets, which are great when you've been out walking all day!

Lovely to walk around. Stunningly beautiful. Maybe a bit difficult if you have trouble with uneven surfaces or steps.

Thundering waterfall, wild flowers in woodland glades, Himalayan Firs and other specimen trees, red squirrels, Wordsworth's "Daffodils" on the nearby shore of Ullswater! What delights! Walks are fairly easy, but there are also magnificent views from Gowbarrow Fell above which need a little exertion. Ample parking (National Trust) and easy road access along side of Ullswater, but the Ullswater steamer... More

Something for everyone from the "Harry Potter" style bridges, waterfalls, great scenery, Red Squirrels and a nice walk that is not too difficult. Accessible via the National Trust car park or now within easy walking distance of the new steamer jetty, so it can easily be combined with a ride on the Ullswater Steamer.
