Discover Bowland and explore 803 sq km of rural Lancashire (730 sq km) and Yorkshire (73 sq km). The Forest of Bowland was designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1964 and provides some of the most peaceful and remote walking, riding and cycling in the country. Great adventure playground. We enjoyed walking by the streams and up onto several hill tops. Plenty of picnic spots ours was quiet sheltered. We also had a really sunny pleasant day. We'll be back again and again. Also been many times over the years and still finding more surprises.

The landscape is beautiful. Fresh smell of the forest will enlighten your mood. The lavender fields were a picturesque sight.

Absolutely awesome! If you are into mtb - ride this!! They will hire you a bike if you Don,t have your own with you. Stick to blue route unless you are really competent rider !! Take your time and enjoy the beautiful sweeping trails and then go to the forest hub cafe. Parking cost 3 pound for the whole day.

I went to the forest of Bowland today and I went to do the circular walk of Stocks reservoir. It was an amazing walk. It started off through forest and fields. Eventually after an hour I came upon the reservoir. The sun finally came out. The path was easy to follow, with lots of great views along the way. I... More

Britain has plenty of national parks and many of them are well visited to the point of being spoiled. The Forest of Bowland is easily passed on the way up or down the M6 to more well known destinations. This is a shame if you like wild scenery, tough but rewarding walking and the chance to see Britain's fells properly... More

Staying in Burton in Kendal over the Xmas holiday we decided to go for a fresh walk on a sunny day to Aitken Wood & Pendle Sculpture Trail. Good parking with lots of spaces, £1 placed in the yellow box, seems more like an honesty thing as you don't get a ticket. Very little to pay for what you get... More

This is my new favourite place for stunning views and beautiful sunsets. No matter what the weather, it's always a satisfying visit and time seems to fly when here. Can't wait to return again.

Quite simply the most beautiful part of Britain. Peaceful, unspoiled and gorgeous. A scattering of hamlets and villages to explore and enjoy. Keep it a secret.

Beautifully empty of people. Full of wondrous, bleak, enthralling, peaceful, raw nature. Saw three peregrines on one walk.
