Our last day in Lincoln and we just had to visit the castle that was held 800 years ago by 2 pensioners. Yes the Regent, William Marshal was well into his 70s and the Constable, Nicola De La Haye was 60. Here we heard about the history of the castle, the Battle Lincoln Fair where the above two historic hero's... More

Attended a talk on the battle of Lincoln may 1217. Fantastic talk, lovely buffet then the well informed guide took us onto the walls and explained about the battle, showing us where William Marshalls troops entered the city and how the battle was fought outside the castle gates

The staff have incredible knowledge and we're very helpful. It was so interesting to see the Victorian prison. It's not often you get to go inside cells! It was also a sunny day so the walk around the castle walls was stunning.those views!!

Brilliant walk around the castle walls (1/3 mile) lots of picnic areas and you can go into the Victorian prison. Best to buy a joint ticket for this and the cathedral

Great place to incorporate with the cathedral. Very family orientated. They do some great prices on tickets. If you time your visit with one of the events....even better.

Lincoln castle has had a major refurbishment of its wall, allowing visitors to walk around the whole wall which offers outstanding views of the city and cathedral. The castle houses one if 3 copies of the Magna Carta of 1215, and has a prison, law courts and other attractions for a very reasonable price. They often have events such as... More

The famous Magna Carta, soon accompanied by the Domesday Book for a short time., Prisons, dressing up. All set in Lincoln's historic area. A combined Cathedral and Castle pass is available, but may prove too much for children, in one day! Not to... More
