Well presented collection of artefacts from different periods. Handy as a rainy day activity, not overwhelming in size.

Some lovely pictures, well presented in a small but well laid out gallery. Would definitely recommend a visit

...it could be so much better. There's plenty for a couple of hours and some great interactive bits for kids. What really lets it down is that the labelling is hit and miss. At a recent 'Egyptian Event', for example, many of the Egyptian exhibits lacked proper labelling - transliteration and/or provenance - which rather spoiled the experience. The linked... More

We took a visiting friend here because he is very interested in art. He visits Italy regularly on art trips, so we thought he would enjoy The Usher Gallery. What a let down and a waste of car parking money. Not nearly as good as I expected, one room was closed, they appeared to be re-arranging. Our friend was also... More

The Usher Gallery has a permanent collection of art, ceramics and some large marble sculptures all of which I find very interesting. However, there have been some excellent temporary exhibitions of international standard visiting, the most recent being the finalists from the National Portrait Gallery BP competition which was hosted for 2 months, on the way to Scotland, in the... The Usher Gallery has some interesting art, ceramics and glass, and possibly the best collection of clocks and watches outside of Greenwich. The Museum and Archaelogical collection was superb well set out, and appeals to all ages, with artifacts from the Stone Age, Iron Age, Bronze Age, Saxon, Medieval and up to modern manufacturing. There were many hand-on displays of... More

Two buildings which together form the Collection - the original Usher Gallery which was built to house the collection of James Ward Usher, designed by the architect Sir Reginald Blomfield, and opened in May 1927. It has since been given a new side entrance and shop extension, to face across to the new museum building although the original logic of... More

The Collection as lots of exhibits which are aimed at a range of ages. A good place to visit if you like history and want to know how Lincoln developed. Usher Gallery has limited exhibits and was not that interesting, only go if you like art and ceramics

This is an excellent museum housing some fascinating displays and also a great children's area equipped with costumes and activities and a good shop and restaurant. A range of talks and trip are run by the Friends of the museum. Well worth joining to support this museum.

Thank Fenlandier
