Great Visit

This mediaeval palace once the home of the bishop of Lincoln is now in the hands of English Heritage and has been imaginatively renovated. Good shop.

A lovely place to spend a warm afternoon. The free audio tour is very good although it doesn't mention Catherine Howards alleged indiscretions here is hich was the bit that fascinated me. The walk is quite challenging if you have mobility problems.

A really well set up visitor attraction allows you to see a large proportion of the Palace. Some areas were closed for refurbishment while we were there but I didn't feel it took away from anything. We used the audio guide which was useful and interesting.

This is a very interesting site but not much more tahn a ruin and on a very steep slope. Good descriptions help you to use your imagination to picture how it was, Don't be tempted to miss out the whole walk down as you'd miss a beautiful modern garden and vineyard

Nice building to visit. Audio guide good and informative and the views are stunning. The building is managed by English Heritage and well worth a visit

As we are EH members, this visit was free for us I'm not sure how I would have felt about paying full price. The site is beautifully presented and the gardens are well-kept. There are fantastic views and it was very pleasant to sit in the spring sunshine, admiring the view and listening to the audio-guide. However, the audio-guide does... More

English Heritage audioguides are free, once you have paid the admission fee, and are generally excellent. But I was disappointed by the audioguide at Lincoln’s medieval bishops’ palace. Despite a boast that it is an award-winner, it seems inferior to those I have used at other EH sites. The basic historical information is fine, but the audioguide is bedevilled by... More

Interesting place to visit, though not sure if I would have felt so if we weren't EH members. We visited in rainy weather, which wasn't ideal for visiting ruins, and the signage wasn't that great.

This is a very historically important ruin and is linked to the cathederal across the road. As members of English Heritage, we didnt have to pay for entry so I am unsure of the price, but as with all EH ruins, take an audio guide to direct you around the site in a chronological order. Bing a ruin there is... More
