Arrived at Lounge at 4.40 pm on a Friday not very busy plenty of seating Bit of a soul less place no atmosphere like a slightly better bus station waiting room ...nothing much left to eat other than some cake and nuts was expecting a sandwich or similar at least at that time of day ...Was offered tea and coffee the visit was salvaged by a lovely member of staff Hayley who looked after us ..so thank you Hayley ...lovely meeting you

RUDE AND UNWELCOMING
Aug 2021 • Couples
Doesnt even deserve a star, woman at front desk was absolutely rude and unwelcoming. We have paid hundreds of pounds for our tickets, this was at 12 noon today (9th august). We were early and waited 40 minutes outside, to come back and be met with cheek from this woman. We took a step forward to be sat down and she was treating us like utter sh***. As a young couple we are shocked at this and would put us off doing first class again. Not worth it being made to feel like an outsider. Please sort your staff out as its beyond ridiculous. I work in Tesco and was apalled by the customer service here, will be making a formal complaint thanks to one member of staff who evidently has no idea how to treat public

Absolutely reeks!
Jul 2021 • Friends
A truly horrible experience. The talking toilets, tiny windows, sickening rocking motion, appalling cleanliness standards and pervasive smell of sewage are enough to push one over the edge. We can only look forward to the day when this rolling stock is replaced with something humane. Apparently the air conditioning units are next to the sewage units which explains the constant smell of ****. Further proof, if we needed it, that privatising the railways was a shameful thing to do.

Terrible
Jun 2021 • Solo
Now called LNER the service from London kings cross to Doncaster is a joke. Says you must have a reservation at then sends a different formation of train so reservation s are cancelled. Guards daren't check your ticket because they daren't walk through the chaos which is the state of their trains. Absolute sham. Furious

AVANTI 1ST CLASS LOUNGE AT EUSTON
Mar 2021
Not only is this lounge old and tired and dirty, I arrived 2 hours before my train and I wasn't allowed in. I know the rule is 1 hour before departure (which is ridiculous anyway) but with Covid I paid over a hundred pounds for my ticket so that I could go somewhere and sit in well somewhat comfort. Also there was no one in there so I had to go and sit on the seats downstairs with at least 100 other people. Where is the common sense in that. So annoyed I won't be paying for 1st class ever again, infact it's nicer and cheaper to drive.

Let the train take the strain!
Oct 2019
We travel occasionally between Crewe and the city of Chester in Cheshire, a journey that usually takes just under an hour. There is a nice view of the Crewe Heritage Centre (a railway museum) as you exit from Crewe station to Chester.
The trip is usually quite comfortable - we have used Virgin but the service is now run by Avanti. This is a straight run with flat countryside to be seen on both sides until you arrive in one of the bay platforms in Chester Station. Let the train take the strain!

AVANTI TRAIN JOURNEY
Aug 2020
Virgin no longer run this service. It is now run by Avanti. I travelled First Class from London to Manchester on Monday. The First class lounge in Euston Station was open and because of the virus you had to stay seated as a member of staff served drinks and snacks to you. The staff were all friendly and the room was not busy.
The train journey was excellent as it always is. Just over two hours point to point. A nice comfortable seat and food and drink served at your seat, which included cola, coffee, Salad sandwich, cake, more coffee and more cola. The staff were friendly and professional.
The carriage only had another 3 people on board and before you know it you have arrived in Manchester. Its the best way to travel from London to Manchester.

31 degrees and NO AIRCON. Extremely uncomfortable journey.
Aug 2020 • Solo
Arrived on time.

No WiFi at all even though it’s advertised.

The main issue was that there was absolutely NO air con.
Can’t open a window. Absolutely stifling. Difficult to continue to wear your mask as it’s hard to breathe in that heat.

Disgusting. Really uncomfortable journey.

No staff around to speak to.
