What Makes It Special
Old Spitalfields Market represents one of the country's last bastions of consumer diversity and individuality. Home to an old-fashioned community of over 30 independent and large traders and a plethora of chic bohemian businesses, it has secured its place at the forefront of interiors, design, food and the arts - a market that truly embraces the spirit of modern London, an entrepreneurial and cultural melting pot that is ever-changing and developing without ever forgetting its historic past. As Samuel Johnson so eloquently said of London: 'When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford." The same is very much true of Old Spitalfields Market.

we were excited to hit this market with the promise of vintage clothing and young designers but found many stalls with much the same stuff as elsewhere and "designers" were people who sewed a couple of items of clothing and had racks of the same...More

Old Spitalfields Market is one of London’s top 4 markets (Borough, Camden, and Greenwich being top 3 in my opinion). It has plenty of interesting clothes stalls and eateries

There was a time when Thursdays were the best day for shopping here for antiques and collectibles. I am deeply saddened by the change this once charming place has had to endure over the last year. There has been a total injustice of practice by...More

I Have been a frequent visitor of Spitalfields Market for as long as i can remember. It has now been ruined with too many food stalls (when there was enough already) and an over polished / corporate feel to it. The Market used to be...More

The antiques market used to be my favourite for many years, but it has been ruined. Half of the stallholders were kicked out by the new American management and replaced with even more overprized food stalls. The remaining sellers have been pushed into sanitised wooden...More

Slick, green, sustainable, recyclable, clean - boring. What used to be quiet an interesting place for creative ideas has turned to yet another standard shopping mall with wooden stalls. As soon as I saw the CHANEL shop I knew it was time to go. The...More

Nice place to wander around, some good street food as well as coffee shops and enough different restaurants to shake a stick at. The stalls sell similar wares to most markets but are maybe a bit dearer than some of the more provincial ones, but...More
