One of the places in London to stroll and soak it up. Very atmospheric. While we were walking we saw a couple of performers and enjoyed their work. Lovely place to look up, down and across the river to soak up the sights of London.

We visited here on route to take the London Duck tours for the second time and had a while to wait before our water/land tour of the capital so we wandered around for a few hours....The Eye is the obvious attraction towering above and visible from almost wherever you walk.Great views of the big clock and the River Thames too....and... The most interesting part of the river bank in my opinion. So much to see. Wonderful Christmas market last week too. Atmosphere great for every age group.

We wandered down to South Bank from HMS Belfast to see the early Christmas Markets. Most Markets don't start until the beginning of December but this was on in the last weekend of November. There weren't a huge amount of stalls, most were food stalls but the atmosphere was nice and the craft stalls there were seemed to be of... More

This is a pretty broad definition of an area. Essentially the south side of the river. Lots to do and see here. The Eye is probably the main draw. Great views of Big Ben and Westminster.

I really enjoyed my time here. Standing on Waterloo Bridge you can see St. Paul's & Big Ben at the same time. There's a skate park at the one side. The coffee was bad - everywhere, I really did try to find good coffee... Walk down the south bank and enjoy the view, the feeling, the music.

Always great for a walk and especially now with the Christmas markets. There's great mulled wine and all sorts of goodies! The views remain my favourite part of south bank.

Have I missed it? It seems the food stalls are out and a couple of the same craft stalls as last year but not if the same scale as previous years. Where are they all? Hence a bit disappointed as no Christmas spirit. The sponsors may reconsider next year.

The South bank always seems to have something going on. The London eye and the London sea life centre are here making that area very busy. If you would like an adventure you can go on one of many a boat rides from here (both slow and super fast). I recommend the Thames rockets for the adrenaline junkies. Great fun!... More

Staying in Southbank

Neighbourhood Profile
Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.
