My third tour so far and as always an evocative picture of Victorian life. The guide gave us so information and poignant stories. The setting is magical. It's great value for money especially as the funds go to the upkeep of this gem.

Highgate remains a proper part of old London where other boroughs have fallen prey to visitors, chains and tourists, the cemetery is an oasis, up a steep hill from the tube, naturally with views

When I lived in London in the '90s I enjoyed visiting Highgate and Brompton Cemeteries occasionally. These are two of the Magnificent Seven cemeteries, which were built in the 1830s in response to a massive influx of population to London in the early 19th century...More

Dear John, I am sorry that you feel this way. I hope I can explain the reasons behind the entrance fee - £12 for a guided tour and entry to the East cemetery, or £4 for the East on its own self-guided. Highgate Cemetery, like...More

We did the official tour in September this year (brilliant) and while being shown around I suddenly had a ‘light bulb’ moment remembering that back home (200 miles away) I had some family history paperwork mentioning Highgate cemetery. Back home I found it! I booked...More

I believe so, though if you speak to someone at the gate, I would imagine they'd be accommodating. The price to ender the East side is around 4-8 pounds, from what I recall.

Hello Although there is often (usually weekends) a coffee cart outside the cemetery, we would recommend that you go up to Highgate Village, or down to the bottom of Swains Lane (about 10 minutes either way), where there are... More
