The Old Royal Naval College (ORNC) is Sir Christopher Wren's riverside masterpiece and one of London's most popular attractions. The iconic buildings stand on the site of Greenwich Palace, Henry VIII's favourite royal residence, and were originally designed as a refuge for old and injured sailors. The buildings and grounds are open daily and include the Painted Hall, Chapel and Discover Greenwich Visitor Centre. Admission is free.

The most amazing experience with a truly fascinating and well versed guide. Everyone involved was enthusiastic and jolly and made us very welcome. Shame there wasn't a collecting box at the end of the tour, or Painted Hall specific items to be purchased immediately! Wonderful...More

A must see.We went yesterday and were taken round by a Volunteer Guide (Roger) with an amazing knowledge of the Hall and Painted Ceiling. To be so close and see the detail and experience how they would have worked was incredible.

Once in a lifetime opportunity to climb 60 easy rise steps and walk over scaffolded floor so close to this amazing ceiling and carvings you could touch (but don't!) see the painting detail invisible from below and also the marks left by conservators over the...More

Really superb tour; very informative and a unique chance to see the ceiling very closely. There are no ladders to climb for access as I had expected and it's just a metal staircase leading to the ceiling. Well worth a visit and the location is...More

Highly recommend this tour. We've visited the painted hall many times, but to see the ceiling close up with a well informed guide is a privilege. A once in a lifetime opportunity

In my view probably the best ten quid spent currently in London. A unique insight into a highly important conservation project, things you will not see from ground level and made by our guide Craig. Get yourself down there.
