You can't actually get inside without working through a local MP, but a nice attraction to visit. You won't be alone outside taking pictures, as the area is flooded with tourists.

It's one of the iconic places in London but it won't disappoint. The whole place is so much better in person!

We parked ourselves in Westminster Park at the Nelson Mandela statue and watched as dusk approached and the grand tower was illuminated. Grab a coffee or sandwich and take the time to see it happen- you won't regret it!

My wife and I aren't too big into touristy things, but you can't come to London without at least a quick visit to the old clock. We went in early May and the crowds weren't terrible.

If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a
grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to
start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster
Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square,
and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham
Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just
up the road as well. As captivating as the
architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are

Thanks for all the wonderful answers. We have narrowed our potential dates to May/June of either 2018 or 2019. I expect that even with renovations going on, Big Ben will still be a popular tourist attraction, how much time should we dedicate to seeing this beautiful landmark?

If you decide to take a tour inside the Houses of Parliament, these take between 60 and 90 minutes. You should also allow about 15 minutes to enter the building. If you come in to watch a debate, you can stay as long as the... More
