Amazing musem
Jul 2021
This museum is amazing. Lets start from basics. You can book online, and its free! You do have to pay for parking which you can do beforehand. Theres lots of extras like Red Arrows experience you can also buy beforehand. On arrival you are met by friendly staff who direct you where to go. Once inside there is alot to see, many exhibits in a few hangars and very informative. There is a large gift shop on site. Id recommend taking your own food and drink as the cafe was very expensive and the service was slow. There are plenty of benches outside to sit. Id like to say a big thank you to staff as I wanted to do the Spitfire experience, where you get a private guided tour of a Spitfire and get to sit in it. On the day I visited they werent doing tours, but the staff put one on just for me. A lifelong ambition fulfilled so thanks. Well worth the visit!

And amazing day out for the family
Jun 2021
We had the most wonderful day today strolling through the various halls at the RAF Museum and marvelling at their spectacular collection of planes. It was brilliant for both kids and dads, with the finest collection of every possible size and shape and plenty of detail for the fascinating history of the RAF.

Due to COVID restrictions you can't go on them - but just getting to see them up close was a real treat.

The staff at the museum are incredible and so helpful. As a personal, extra special highlight - I wanted to say a massive thanks to Tracey who was working the 4d simulator. My kid was really nervous to go on, and she was an absolute saint at calming him down and making him feel happy to go on.

Eventually after much dicussion and coaxing, he managed to go on the ride and absolutely loved it. She really was amazing at helping him conquer his fears - and we are all so grateful. He was so excited afterwards and was so happy.

Thanks for the amazing work

Wonderful aircraft museum, with free entry
May 2021
My wife and I booked (FREE) advance tickets to visit the RAF Museum in Hendon on 31 May 2021. Parking is chargeable at £5 for up to 3 hours, and £7 for more than 3 hours. No need to book this in advance - just swipe a credit card on a machine before you depart (it was easy, and hassle free).

If you love aircraft, this is a WONDERFUL museum, with six halls filled with aircraft old and new. You'll see pretty much EVERYTHING you hoped to see from the mighty Avro Vulcan and Short Sunderland to the smaller Spitfire and (Red Arrows) Gnat. There are great presentations of historical events such as The Dambusters raid on the Ruhr dams.

We followed the exhibition halls numerically, starting at "1", continuing to 2, then the combined 3/4/5 and finishing in the new/modern hall 6 which contains the Harrier, Jaguar and Eurofighter Typhoon.

Go early, as with fewer crowds, you can get better photographs of the exhibits.

Best day out
Jun 2021 • Family
We had a great day out as a family at the RAF museum. We felt safe, there are hand sanitising sites everywhere, the staff is v helpful and professional, we enjoyed our aircraft simulation experience. Is an excellent option to spend a day as a family, my 5 year old son enjoyed every second. There is also a park outdoors where children can run around and go on airplanes. Thank you for an amazing experience, we will definitely come back again!

What a place!! An experience for the entire family and all abilities. Fully accessible!
Jun 2021 • Family
Where do we start? What a place! The perfect destination for anyone who has a love of aviation. We drove up this morning from Bournemouth as a treat for my 4 year old who love planes. Unbelievably its free to get in!! We did purchase the tote bag with guide and the Spitfire experience. Anyone not sure if the Spitfire experience is worth doing stop thinking now and book it. Its a great experience to sit in the cockpit. Its so iconic and it really is a thing of beauty.
The site is large and well kept, the displays are faultless and the aircraft they have you won't find in most places, certainly not together anyway.
There's plenty for the little ones too. There's a great park outside and inside there's mini kids version's of a few planes they can sit in.
We bought lunch from the cafe by the gift shop. My son had the kids meal deal plus a tea cake, while I have a sandwich and a drink. It was just over £12 which I didnt think was too bad as the food was very good. It serves a great selection of food and drink. Even better you het to enjoy it in a hanger next to a fully complete Short Sunderland!
Now the most amazing thing we found was when we went to the toilet. Most wouldn't notice but we have an 8 year old (who wasn't with us) thats confined to a wheelchair. In the toilet is a full size fold down changing station, a screen plus unbelievably an electric hoist! Now anyone who knows just how bad we are in the UK at given disabled children access to fully equipped toilets will know this is a huge pat on the back. Ive only seen two venues with such facilities, normally you find a quiet corner and lay down some blankets. Id also like to add that the site is fully accessible.
Finally on the way out you will go through the gift shop. It has everything from £1- near £1000
So we 100% will be back and you'd be 100% crazy not to give this museum a visit.

Great facility but dont eat here
May 2021 • Family
For a free facility (except parking which is not) this is a great destination. With loads of aircraft and displays and playground and open spaces it's ideal for a day out.

However eat elsewhere. The only offering right now is Claudes Cafe. The choice is minute , the prices are eye wateringly expensive and the actual food is mediocre.

This needs some serious attention because it is a huge negative
