Four of us popped in for a pre show drink. We are a group of middle aged women visiting London from a rural village. As soon as we went upstairs we were made to feel welcome and the place had a wonderful friendly atmosphere. Drinks were a good price too. The only little thing was that the barman used his... More

I just walked in here, was standing at the bar waiting to get served, two people got served before me. What has happened in London to the art of good bartending? The guy realised that I should of been served and apologised. Then wished me Happy St George's day.??? I questioned him and then he stated that because I had... More

I LOVE this bar. It's been my favourite gay bar in London for years. So that's why I was so disappointed to be turned away with my friends and their sleeping 2 year old in a pram early on Saturday afternoon. It seems the pink pound is welcome until you become a family, after that you become a pariah. My... More

This is the place to meet for a catch up with friends on a Friday evening. Friendly relaxed great bar. Also you're not ripped off with drink prices in the centre of London

It's nice to be treated like a regular, even on your first vist. I go to Retro Bar regulalrly, but not often. Over the past 2 years I've been there 6-8 times. Most visits are to enjoy a stand-up comedy night in the upstairs room, but also include drinks downstairs before or after the show. Every time the greeting is... More

We always come here if we are seeing a Show in and around Charring Cross as it's a fantastic little bar. It's down an alleyway and very unassuming but it's got a fab group of people who are a bit different to the 'other' bars around town. Well worth trying out. You might just bump into me 😋 Love this... I have only ever been here during the day and it is a lovely retreat from the bustle of London. It is hidden down a side alley off the Strand and we have always enjoyed a quiet drink here.

A friendly, welcoming gay bar. The jukebox alone, is an excuse to visit this pub. Tucked down a little alleyway, just off the Strand, I cant believe I've only discovered this place. Staff were so friendly, one even offered to carry my drinks for me....you don't get that much in London these days! I got chatting to a few people... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighbourhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
